Dentist Greenville SC - Five Star Reviews
Five star review from Google
Palmer distinctive dentistry was the best experience I've ever had at a dentist. They treat you with respect and everyone is very courteous. Pricing is reasonable and the work I had done was quick and painless. Although the time the doctor spent explaining all the options was priceless.

Dentist in Greenville, SC, Offers Education On Mercury Detoxification

Mercury Detoxification
At Palmer Distinctive Dentistry, guests in and around the area of Greenville, SC can learn about the advantages of mercury detoxification services with Drs. John Palmer, and Debra Adams.

What is mercury and mercury toxicity?

Mercury is an element that is present in a variety of materials such as silver mercury fillings(amalgams) placed by many dentists. However, studies continue to show the negative effects of mercury toxicity. Exposure to mercury can result in mercury poisoning, which may result in symptoms such as:
  • Chest pain/burning sensations
  • Behavioral changes
  • Poor memory and concentration
  • Fatigue and lethargy
  • Depression
  • Chronic headaches
  • Tingling and loss of physical sensations
Karyn Moore, RDH, explains
our Mercury detox protocol

Where else can mercury be found?

Mercury can be found not only in dental fillings, but in a variety of other elements and products, including:
  • Thermometers
  • Cigarettes
  • Lightbulbs
  • Soil
  • Air and water
  • Food products
  • Industrial sites

How can guests determine if they have high levels of mercury?

In many cases, guests exhibiting the signs of mercury toxicity can work with their primary care physician or a holistic practitioner to have the guest’s mercury levels tested. There are a few different ways in which this can be achieved. Mercury Tri test kit, by Quicksilver has proven to be the best test to determine if there has been extended exposure to mercury. It uses the blood, hair and urine to extract its results. The mercury Tri test kits are available at Palmer Distinctive Dentistry. Once test is complete, and levels are detected and those results are sent to the guest’s holistic practitioner to further review with the guest.

Mercury detoxification simplified

A mercury detox is a specialized process that is used to remove mercury from the body. When guests have silver mercury fillings(amalgams) in their mouth, they are already at risk of mercury toxicity. The first step in ensuring the guest is safe from mercury is to start with the removal and replacement of these amalgam fillings. Many dentists still place them, even though continued research shows the negative impact they can have on one’s body. Drs. John Palmer, and Debra Adams of Palmer Distinctive Dentistry in Greenville, SC have stopped using these fillings as recommended by the IAOMT (International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology), and instead utilize safer alternatives such as BPA Free composite resin, or porcelain restoration. This is the first step in mercury detoxification. After this, guests can continue to work with their medical practitioner to achieve a mercury-free body. This may include elements such as medical treatment, home remedies, and even services available through our practice such as the MerProtect™ Protocol. Drs. John Palmer, and Debra Adams work closely with guests to ensure they are enjoying a healthy smile and body through their dental health!

What to expect on the day of the procedure.

Amalgam Removal

Before your appointment you should have purchased Quicksilver Merprotect. You will start this protocol 2 days before your amalgam removal appointment and you will finish this protocol after your appointment. If you are doing same day amalgam removal you will start the binder that day and continue for 6 days after. This protocol is an all natural binder to prepare and remove any of the heavy metal in your digestive system.

Amalgam Removal Process

It is our duty to keep you as protected as possible during your amalgam removal, this will consist of a full body covering over you. After everything is prepared, we will place a head covering that will slide over your head only exposing your face, we will also clip a large impermeable paper to your bib that will cover you all the way to your feet. We also supply you with oxygen through a mask. The doctor and assistant will then dawn their protective equipment. We will then isolate each quadrant with a dental dam which lessens the risk of any mercury particles getting into your system. We place a suction under the dam to catch any water or saliva throughout the removal, as well as using a high volume suction. We use a high suction vacuum that will be right above your chest to catch any mercury particles so as not to contaminate the air. With everything running at once it may be hard to communicate, if you are having any discomfort or need the doctor to stop for any reason, we ask that you shake the paper with your left hand letting us know to immediately stop and check on you.

This process may be overwhelming to some, but once the doctor has removed all of the amalgam we remove the covering and remove all contaminated materials from the room. We will have you rinse and swish your mouth out with a Vitamin C rinse which will also bind to any particles in the mouth left over from the removal, once everything is off, we will wipe down the room and continue as normal as either doing a composite filling, ceramic onlay or crown depending on the recommended treatment plan.
