Dentist Greenville SC - Five Star Reviews
Five star review from Google
Palmer distinctive dentistry was the best experience I've ever had at a dentist. They treat you with respect and everyone is very courteous. Pricing is reasonable and the work I had done was quick and painless. Although the time the doctor spent explaining all the options was priceless.

Restore missing teeth with safe and effective biocompatible porcelain implants in Greenville, SC

Biocompatible Porcelain Implants
Missing teeth not only affect how you chew and speak but can also negatively affect your self-confidence in work and social situations. Restoring your missing teeth can bring back your confidence so you can better enjoy your work, family, and friends. However, many dentists commonly use toxic materials such as metal to restore missing teeth. Dr. John Palmer at Palmer Distinctive Dentistry in Greenville, SC takes a different approach to safely and effectively restore missing teeth with biocompatible porcelain implants.

Purpose and benefits of dental implants

Dental implants are a highly effective treatment used to restore missing teeth so you can regain the functionality that the tooth provided in a way that looks and feels natural. A dental implant replaces the root of the tooth using a screw-like post that is inserted into your jaw, and then an artificial tooth that both looks and functions like your natural tooth is placed on the post. With implants, your other teeth do not need to be altered to accommodate the implant, such as when bridges or crowns are placed on your teeth, and they don’t negatively affect your gums by rubbing against them like dentures can.

Dental implant procedure

At Palmer Distinctive Dentistry, we conduct a thorough consultation with you before choosing a treatment. Dr. Palmer will examine your mouth and then discuss your goals and options to arrive at the best treatment plan for you. If you will be getting a dental implant, Dr. Palmer will use the latest technology such as 3D Cone Beam imaging to precisely plan your implant procedure.

During your surgical appointment, the dentist will numb your mouth and use sedation to reduce any anxiety and will then place the implant post into your jawbone in the spot where the tooth is missing. After this procedure, your jawbone will begin to fuse with the implant to form a long-lasting bond to replace the missing tooth root. Once that process has occurred, which may take a couple of months, the dentist will place an “abutment,” or a small connecting piece, on the dental implant. Your gums will take some time to heal after the abutment is placed, and then the dentist will bond a crown that looks and works like a natural tooth onto the abutment. The price of dental implants varies, depending on your overall oral health, the quality of the bone and location that the implant will be placed, the number of teeth that need implants, and the size of the implants needed. The team at Palmer Distinctive Dentistry understands that cost is an important factor in your dental care and will be up-front about price to ensure that cost of your treatment plan is within your budget.

The cost of dental implants is expensive - it is an investment. But they offer various means of financing, and I was able to go through this process, pay them off within 12 months, no interest, and there is no debt at the end of the day.

What is biocompatibility?

Biocompatible dentistry, also called holistic dentistry, focuses on providing guests with dental care that is health-conscious and minimizes any negative impacts of dental treatments and care. When your holistic dentist evaluates your oral health, they provide personalized care that considers your entire body’s well-being.

Traditional dentistry uses materials such as metals that can be toxic to your body and can negatively impact your overall health. Dr. Palmer prioritizes your health and well-being, and he ensures that only the highest quality materials are used in his dental practice. Instead of metal, he uses zirconia dental implants. Zirconia is a biocompatible material that, when placed in your jaw for the implant procedure, works naturally with your body and does not lead to the toxicity or dark lines on your gums that metal implants can cause. In addition to being a healthier material for your body, zirconia implants have the following benefits:
  • Simpler in design than titanium implants, using only one piece of ceramic that does not shift or move when under pressure
  • Highly durable and do not corrode over time like titanium implants can
  • Many guests say that zirconia implants are more comfortable, both during the actual surgical procedure and afterwards
