Dentist Greenville SC - Five Star Reviews
Five star review from Google
Palmer distinctive dentistry was the best experience I've ever had at a dentist. They treat you with respect and everyone is very courteous. Pricing is reasonable and the work I had done was quick and painless. Although the time the doctor spent explaining all the options was priceless.

Greenville holistic dentist utilizes a biocompatible approach for overall guest wellness

If you are searching for a holistic dentist, look no further than the team at Palmer Distinctive Dentistry in Greenville. Holistic dentistry focuses on protecting a guest’s oral and overall health. Using a biocompatible approach, the dental team uses methods that help the body heal itself instead of using chemicals, materials, or procedures that may be dangerous or toxic. This alternative offers guests more natural care with amazing benefits.

A biocompatible approach preserves the health of the oral cavity by using non-toxic materials.

Holism is a philosophy in which an individual person, the body, mouth, and mind, are considered and treated as a unit. Holistic dentists use this approach and acknowledge the impact toxic materials have on dental and physiological health. They strive to maintain the integrity and health of the mouth by using systemically compatible materials and procedures.

What is a biocompatible approach?

Holistic dentistry involves following a biocompatible approach. This method focuses on preserving the health of the oral cavity using efforts that cause as little disruption as possible. Problems are addressed using conservative, minimally invasive methods whenever possible. Non-toxic methods are used to ensure compatibility with the body and to preserve guest health and wellness.

By understanding the mouth-body connection, we acknowledge that what enters the mouth, good or bad, impacts the rest of the body. A biocompatible approach includes the use of better, safer, materials. Rather than potentially toxic metals, ceramic, porcelain, or composite materials are utilized to restore teeth. This helps avoid negative reactions and side effects. The materials are non-toxic to promote overall health. An added benefit is that the materials produce an aesthetically pleasing result. The decision to use toxin-free materials is simple but it makes a long-term difference.

Mercury safe practices

Holistic, biocompatible dentistry includes avoiding mercury. Mercury is known to be toxic, dangerous, and unsafe at all levels. It may cause or contribute to health problems. Even the smallest amount of mercury can cause harm to nearly every system of the body.

Unfortunately, mercury is still present in a silver mercury fillings (amalgams). Dental amalgam is a mixture of mercury, silver, tin, and copper with mercury making up 50% of the mixture. A large filling may contain the same amount of mercury as a thermometer. Some dental practices still place and use amalgam fillings to restore cavities. The filling is often less expensive, is easily placed, and is considered durable. Unfortunately, less initial financial cost comes with a cost to the guest’s overall health.

At room temperature, mercury can vaporize and be absorbed by the bloodstream. The vapors are continuously released from fillings and accumulate into the body. Over time, the body loses its ability to effectively remove vapors. This causes damage to different systems of the body. Put simply, amalgam fillings are not safe.

We maintain a mercury-safe dental office. We do not place amalgam fillings due to the presence of mercury. We also follow precise safety protocols to remove pre-existing amalgam fillings. The procedure has been specifically outlined by the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology (IAOMT) for the safe removal of amalgam fillings. This protocol protects the wellness of the guest, dental team, and the environment during the removal process.
