Dental Implants

With zirconia implants, your dentist near Greer enhances the beauty and function of your smile

Our permanent teeth are supposed to stay with us throughout our lives, but this is not always the case for every person. Various factors may affect the teeth, leading to loss. Regardless of the precise reason behind the loss of a permanent tooth or teeth, replacement becomes an important factor in ongoing oral health.

Replacing lost teeth with zirconia dental implants is not just about aesthetics. In our office near Greer, Dr. Palmer discusses with guests the various benefits of dental implant treatment beyond the restoration of an attractive smile.

Dental implants have been used by dentists around the world for more than forty years now. During this time, we have seen just how successful this form of treatment is, with many guests well served for the remainder of their lives. Conventional dental implants are made from titanium, a material that is often described as “biocompatible.” Titanium is, however, a metal substance. As such, Dr. Palmer has chosen not to use titanium. Dental implants from Palmer Distinctive Dentistry are made from metal-free zirconia, for a look and feel that is completely natural.

Several advantages come from implants, when compared to traditional tooth replacement treatment. Because implants are situated in the jawbone, artificial teeth gain the greatest amount of support. No healthy teeth are used for support. No appliances are sitting only on the gums. Implants are structured to mimic natural structure, with the zirconia post replacing the lost root. This treatment recreates natural structure to such an extent that implant guests tend to forget they ever lost natural teeth.

The process of integration that takes place when bone fuses around implants creates long lasting function and beauty. Because the bone tissue that supports stability for chewing is alive, it has certain requirements. With our natural teeth and root systems, bone tissue is stimulated when we chew. The loss of roots and teeth leave the bone without necessary stimulation. This is why, after some time without natural teeth, the face begins to look sunken in, even if dentures are worn. This “sinking” effect can be avoided with implants because bone tissue remains intact.

Tooth loss does not have to leave you uncomfortable or dissatisfied with your smile. At Palmer Distinctive Dentistry, we can help you regain confidence with dental implant treatment. Contact us for your visit today.
