When it comes to your oral health, we care deeply about the types of materials used in restorations. For our patients who are in need of a dental bridge, we offer an alternative to the traditional porcelain and metal bridge.
Ceramic bridges are strong, long lasting restorations that blend seamlessly into the smile. They are a great option for patients with missing teeth and allow for both beauty and functionality to be restored to the smile.
Like conventional dental bridges, ceramic bridges are made of a false tooth with dental crowns as anchors. The false tooth is made from ceramic and is color-matched to blend in with surrounding teeth.
There are many advantages to ceramic dental bridges including:
The process for receiving a ceramic dental bridge is completed in two steps. During the first step, the teeth are prepared for the restoration. This involves reshaping the teeth adjacent to the missing teeth to allow room for the crown. If either of these teeth have signs of tooth decay, that will need to be treated before being fitted with the bridge.
Once this is complete, impressions are taken and sent off to a lab so that your bridge can be custom designed and fabricated. While waiting for your permanent restoration you will be fitted with a temporary bridge.
Once your final bridge is ready, you will come back for step two, which is final placement. The bridge will be checked for proper fit and position before it is cemented into place.
Caring for your ceramic dental bridge on a daily basis is important. Remember to practice good oral hygiene and clean the area underneath the bridge.
