Dental Crowns and Bridges

Greenville, SC area guests ask, “What is the effectiveness of CEREC Crowns?”

Dr. Palmer and his team at Palmer Distinctive Dentistry in Greenville, SC are proud to offer guests the benefit of CEREC technology, which allows them to place crowns in a single visit. For decades, guests have become accustomed to the traditional dental crown process, which takes multiple appointments. Now, new advancements in technology have allowed our guests to enjoy the ultimate convenience of receiving their new crown in one day.

The CEREC process has many advantages over traditional crowns; here are some of the most notable:

  • Easier Impressions. The process for traditional crowns can be unenjoyable for many guests. For standard crowns, guests are required to take physical impressions, which involves biting down on a tray of paste and staying still while it hardens. The impressions are then sent to an off-site dental laboratory for fabrication. This entire process can take several weeks in some cases. Using CEREC, impressions are taken digitally with a high-resolution camera. The “pictures” are then sent into the design program where Dr. Palmer can view a 3-D rendering on his screen. He then uses his skills and experience to design your custom fabrication.
  • Eliminates the need for a temporary crown. With traditional crowns, you have to wait several weeks for your permanent restoration. This means you will have to be fitted with a temporary crown in the interim. Once your final crown is ready, you come back to the office to have the temporary one removed and the permanent one placed. With CEREC, Dr. Palmer’s design can be sent to the in-office milling machine during your visit. He chooses a ceramic block that matches the color of your teeth, and in about fifteen minutes, your crown is ready!
  • Adjustments are easier. If a standard crown is not quite right when it is received from the laboratory, adjustments can be difficult. Changes of color require the restoration to be sent back to the lab. With CEREC, adjustments can be made quickly, allowing you to receive your crown in one appointment.

The effectiveness and convenience of CEREC restorations has been a game-changer in restorative dentistry. If you would like to learn more about CEREC crowns in a day, call our office today to schedule your consultation.
