Dental Crowns and Bridges

Guests can get crowns in the same day now at Greenville, SC, dentist

If you have a broken or weakened tooth that needs repair, time is of the essence. No one wants to schedule numerous appointments at the dentist office to get an evaluation and restoration work done. Greenville, SC, residents can now get crowns in the same day as their appointment at Palmer Distinctive Dentistry.

A dental crown is a natural-looking cap that is placed over the tooth, usually to restore an already broken tooth or to protect a weakened tooth from decaying further. Designed to look like a natural tooth, it can replace a large filling when there is very little tooth left.

A traditional crown takes several steps, beginning with examining and preparing the tooth during the first appointment. The dentist X-rays the tooth to make sure it’s healthy enough for a crown, and he takes impressions to correctly place the crown so the finished restoration doesn’t alter your bite. The impressions are sent to an outside lab where the crown is created. Guests wear a temporary crown during this waiting period before the second appointment, when the permanent crown is placed.

Known as “one-visit dentistry,” CEREC technology allows Dr. John Palmer to fabricate porcelain restorations and place them in the same day. CEREC (which stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) uses computer-aided design and manufacturing to create dental restorations, including crowns, inlays, and onlays for fast and effective treatment that guests desire.

Once the crown is in place, you’ll want to take care of it by avoiding hard, sticky or chewy foods, which could break or loosen the crown. You also may notice a brief period of sensitivity right after the crown is placed. You will be given care instructions and explained what you can expect after the placement of the crown.

If you’re a Greenville, SC, resident considering restorative dental work, call Palmer Distinctive Dentistry at to set up a consultation with us. You can now get crowns in the same day as your appointment and go home with a brand-new smile that makes you proud.
