Invisalign provides a discreet method for straightening teeth in Greenville, SC

Wouldn’t it be nice to have the confidence that goes with a beautiful, straight smile? Many adults would love to see their misalignment corrected, but years in conventional braces may not fit in with their lifestyle. At Palmer Distinctive Dentistry, we offer a clear, discreet alternative to traditional bracket and wire braces: Invisalign.

The bracket and wire system used by conventional braces is a proven method to straighten teeth. It can correct significant bite issues and malocclusion. However, the system is not without aspects that do not work for everyone. For starters, brackets are typically made of metal and while plastic brackets are available in a wide variety of colors, many adults do not wish to have brightly colored fixtures on their teeth. In addition, the brackets and wires have been known to cause irritation or sores in the mouth. While these are not serious issues, it can be uncomfortable for many. In addition, proper oral hygiene can be difficult with traditional braces. There are many nooks and crannies where food particles can become trapped and difficult to remove.

For adults with mild to moderate alignment issues, Invisalign is an alternative that more of our guests are choosing. The Invisalign system uses a series of aligner trays to move the teeth into proper position gradually. Advanced computer technology is used to map out the movement of the teeth and design each set of aligners. The aligners are made of a smooth, BPA free plastic that feels comfortable when worn.

The aligners are generally worn for 20-22 hours each day. They are removable so they can easily be taken out when eating and to properly brush and floss the teeth. Once in place, the aligner trays are virtually invisible, and adapting to speaking and eating with them is easy. Most guests will see optimal results from Invisalign treatment in approximately 18 months.

Although Invisalign is not for everyone, an increasing number of guests are finally enjoying a straighter smile with the help of this alternative method of teeth straightening. To learn more and see if you are a candidate, call our Greenville, SC office today.
